She’s behind you! Student set for panto stardom

Published on 10/12/18

A young dancer from Jane Austen College is set to shine in Norwich’s biggest pantomime this Christmas.

Jayna Carroll will perform in Aladdin at the Norwich Theatre Royal throughout December and January as one of the show’s troupe of young dancers.

She’ll share the stage with television stars Steven Roberts (Hollyoaks, The History Boys), Rik Makarem (Emmerdale, Casualty), and Milkshake presenter Kiera-Nicole Brennan in the popular pantomime.

The Year 8 student has been dancing since the age of four and trains at Norwich’s Central School of Dancing and Performing Arts, just around the corner from Jane Austen College.

She’s no stranger to the Theatre Royal, having trodden the boards in six previous pantomimes alongside big names including Wayne Sleep, Jennifer Ellison, Derek Griffiths, and Sheila Ferguson.

Jayna’s mum Emma said: “Jayna has great fun doing what she loves with her friends, but it’s also hard work with late nights and still having to get up for school the next day.

“She would love to see her friends and teachers at the stage door if they're in the audience at one of her performances.”
