New canteen is toast of the town

Students at Cromer Academy have dished up praise for their brand-new canteen – which they helped to design themselves.
The canteen was needed to accommodate the 25% increase in student numbers in the past three years, and provide a bright, welcoming lunchtime environment.
The student council brought lots of ideas to the table for the new facilities, working with school staff, catering company Vertas, and builders to ensure the new space was appealing and met students’ needs.
Building work started in February and the canteen welcomed its first diners on the first day of the autumn term with a brand-new menu offering a mouth-watering selection of healthy hot meals, street food, fresh salads, and delicious desserts.
Students gave five-star reviews to the new canteen, with Year 11 student Jamie Magnus saying: “It feels more comfortable and the food is much nicer. I love the Texas pasta.”
Danielle Owen added: “The new canteen is so much bigger and the food is great. I had never dreamed that our canteen could be so good.”
Principal Dr Geoff Baker said: “We are all absolutely delighted with the canteen.
“We now have a space that we can be proud of, where our students can enjoy a fantastic meal.
“I am incredibly grateful to the Cromer Academy site team, the Inspiration Trust, and Vertas for all the effort they put into making our vision a reality.”
