A talented violinist from Hethersett Academy has added another string to his bow as he’s been selected to play in Italy with a prestigious youth orchestra.

Oliver Battley, who’s in Year 8, will perform at an open-air concert in Verona, as well as in the stunning Lake Garda village of Pastrengo, as part of Norfolk County Strings’ July tour.

The young maestro started playing the violin in Year 2, and recently passed his Grade 4 exam.

He’s been playing in the string ensemble, run by the Norfolk Music Service, for just over a year.

Oliver said: “I’m really looking forward to going to Italy for the first time to perform with the orchestra.

“I’m also excited to experience some of the culture, like going to the opera and visiting a water park!”
