Orchestra visit is music to young ears

Pupils at Charles Darwin Primary have been inspired to pick up an instrument during a special concert and live music workshop.

Musicians from Norfolk Music Hub visited the school to play for the children on Tuesday, June 5.

They performed pieces from across musical history, from classical composers such as Vivaldi and Dvorak up to Ed Sheeran and the Doctor Who theme.

During the concert the musicians introduced children to their instruments, which included cello, violin, saxophone, and flute.

The visit was organised by Inspiration Trust director of music John Stephens as part of Norfolk Music Hub’s Live Music Week, which visits schools to inspire young people to get involved in music.

Charles Darwin Primary principal Jo Brown said: “The children really loved the concert, and it was a great opportunity for them to learn about the different instruments and the history of music.”
